Composite Fillings
A composite (white) filling is a tooth-coloured mix of resin and glass used to repair decayed or damaged teeth.
After removing decay, the material is applied, hardened with a special light, and bonded to the tooth for support. They are mercury-free, blend naturally with teeth, and are ideal for visible cavities or chips.

Why Composite Fillings?
Benefits of Composite Fillings
- Aesthetics: They match the natural colour of your teeth, making them virtually unnoticeable
- Tooth Preservation: Composite material bonds to the tooth, allowing the dentist to remove less of the healthy tooth
- Environmental Friendliness: Unlike amalgam (silver) fillings, they do not contain mercury
- Versatility: They can be used to fill cavities and repair chipped or broken teeth
The Procedure
- Numbing: Local anesthetic is administered to numb the area, so you won't feel pain.
- Decay Removal: The dentist removes the decayed portion of the tooth
- Preparation: The cleaned cavity is prepared for the filling
- Application: The composite resin is placed in the tooth
- Hardening: A special blue light is used to harden, or "cure," the filling instantly
- Shaping and Polishing: The filling is shaped and polished to match your tooth's natural contours

Dental Crowns
Dental Crowns are restorative 'caps' that protect damaged, cracked or broken teeth, restoring shape, size, and strength. Crowns are made from porcelain, ceramic, metal, or a combination. They look and function like a natural tooth.
A crown usually takes two visits. First, we numb the tooth, remove any decay, and reshape it so the crown will fit. An mould is taken and sent to a lab to create a custom crown. A temporary crown is placed to protect the tooth. At the second visit, the tooth is prepared for bonding, and the new crown is checked for fit, colour, and comfort. It’s then permanently cemented in place.

Dental Bridges
Dental Bridges are used to replace teeth that have been lost, usually by attaching two or more crowns together to close the affected site. They can be made of gold or metal fused to porcelain, or all ceramic which contain no metal. They are usually anchored to neighbouring teeth, and require teeth to be prepared which then allows the space or gap to carry the false tooth and thus close the area where the tooth or teeth have been lost.
Studies have shown that the skill of the preparation of the bridge by the dentist is a key factor in its longevity and also the precision of the materials used in the bridge itself. After that, the maintenance of the bridgework is critical with regular visits to the hygienist as well as efficient home care and care with our dietary intake

Veneers
Veneers are thin, tooth-coloured shells made from porcelain, ceramic, or composite, bonded to the front of teeth to improve appearance. They fit the “minimal dentistry” approach as they require very little tooth removal, making them ideal for healthy teeth needing cosmetic improvement.
During my time in dentistry there has been a gradual move towards “minimal dentistry. Philosophically, I do, and always have agreed with this approach and base my practise on it. Veneers fit well into this minimalist concept where the principal objective is to minimise the amount of tooth removal. Veneers best provide aesthetic improvement for fundamentally sound teeth.

Sedation
There are several ways in which we will try to help you overcome your anxieties, and many things that you yourself can do. We offer several techniques to help anxious patients cope with having dental treatment.
- Oral sedation tablets suspension by mouth.
- Intravenous sedationthese are administered directly.
Oral Sedation
This is a very simple technique.
You'll take the medication about an hour before treatment by mouth. We usually use a specific sedative which is related to the drug we use intravenously. The effect is usually successful, but absorption from the stomach is less predictable than by the intravenous route.

Intravenous Sedation
This is a more complex technique, but is safe. Our team have the correct training and experience.
